All children were born in Dawsonville Ga, Dawsonville Co.,

William Morrow Wallis was born in Ga, on May 17, 1828. From the 1880 census of Burnet Co., Tx, his father was born in Kentucky and his mother in Tennessee. On December 26, 1847, he married Elizabeth Roper, who was born in Georgia on April 14, 1831. Her parents Aaron Roper and Sarah Ann Keith were born in South Carolina. William was a farmer and lived in Dawsonville Georgia unti 1877 when they moved to Burnet County, Tx. My mother Martha Julia, was 3 years old at the time. They lived in Fairlane(Fairland), a small community south of Burnet. Their daughter, Sarah, married Tom Kolb April 10, 1882 and lived at Four Mile Spring, when her husband Tom was killed in a farm accident in 1896. His team ran away and his wagon overturned onhim. He was buried in the Burnet cemetery; his granite headstone was carved by my father W.P. Norton. William Wallis died August 17, 1889, and Elizabeth Roper Wallis died July 5, 1899. Both are buried in the old Burnet Cemetery with their son Henry H., buried between them.

Two other of the Wallis families, Steven [brother of William] and John Wallis [a cousin] had come from Alabama a few years earlier.

Steven Wallis's family are given in the 1880 census of Burnet County as follows:
Steven Wallis, 49, b. GA, parents born in Tenn
Maiden Jane Wallis, 47, b. SC, parents born in SC
Sarah M. Wallis, 20, b AL
Barto Wallis, 18 b.AL
Enoch Wallis, 16, b AL
Nancy Jane Wallis 12, b AL
Mollie Wallis, 9, b TX
Martha Wallis 6, b TX
Lewis Wallis 4, b. TX

* There is also a Newton L Wallace [Wallis] born in 1850 born in Ga. He would have been born before Sarah Wallis. (Personal notes of Linda Carter)

Steven and Maiden Jane Wallis came to Texas from Alabama between 1868 and 1871 between the births of Nancy in Alabama and Mollie in Texas. They first lived at Fairlane and then moved on into Oklahoma around the turn of the century. They first settled in Pottawatomie Co., but were at Meeker, Lincoln Co., Oklahome in 1905 or 1906 when my father moved there. Since we had only one grandparent, W.N. A. Norton living, we called Uncle Steve and Aunt Jane "Granpa and Grandma Wallis." We loved them as we would have loved our own mothers parents. They had one daughter, Nancy, and two sons Henry and Lewis at home. Henry and Nancy never married, but Lewis married when he wa sin his early forties. "Uncle Henry was not givenin the 1880 census-probably working away from home at that time. Enoch and Nellie [Bair] Wallace lived newar his parents at Meeker. They had five children-Edna, Jack, Carl, Douglas, and Beatrice, ages in that order.  Beatrice was a year or two younger than I. (That would mean that Beatrice was born about 1904/05)

Steven and Jane had two grandchildren who must have been Barto's children, India and Dan Wallace, both grown when I knew them. India married Nathaniel Buoy, and Dan married Vesta Guilds. I can barely remember attending Dan's wedding in 1908. I do remember asking fo a second serving of ice cream and Aunt Georgia sshed me to be quite.

Enoch and Ellie moved to Taft, Texas about 1915 and then to Port Arthur, Texas. I last saw them in 1938.

John Wallis, cousin of William and Steven, and his wife Sarah are given in 1880 census of Burnet county. He was 46 and she was 46, both born in Ga. Their children were:
Manson, 25, b BA
George, 21, b Ga
Aspacio (Space) 8, b. Al
Eliza J., 14, b Al
Laura 11, b Tex
Marcus 8 b TX
Mary 4, b TX

Marcu [Cousin Marc] and his wife and children are the only ones of this family that I saw. They wer eliving in Llano county in 1930. They had two sons, Lanham and Ben and one daugher, Willie Mae. They lived on rances a few miles south of Llano (just west of Burnet).

Notes for STERLING PALMER BONE:

Sterling Palmer Bone, married to Ceola Nadine Wallace Stephens

Born June 3, 1917

Died June 24, 1990

Buried: National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona

Phoenix, Az

Entered the service on December 17, 1934: served in the Philippines and was

supposedly a radioman for McArthur on his private plane the "Bataan." I have not

been able to find his records due to a fire I believe. He was said to have served as

a "Coast Watcher" in the Philippines, I also heard he was a gunner and served on

McArthur's plane while in Australia. I have a photo of him at the nose of the plane itself

along with 2 other crewman. The patch on his flight jacket shows he was a member

of the Fifth AAF at that time. He also served in Texas as well as Roswell, NM at the

time they were supposed to have found an alien crashed. He was said to have actually

seen it, but due to orders, never talked about what he had seen. He also quit flying at

that time also. During the War, Granddad Bone had been wounded and had received a

medal, I have seen it but it has since been lost if my brother doesn't have it.

Retired from the US Air Force November 1st, 1967 as SMSGT Sterling P. Bone at Williams

Air Force Base, Chandler, Az.(I remember the ceremony atthe base was on October 31, 1967

as we had Halloween when we got home from Williams Air Force Base).

There was a photo taken of Granddad Bone, Grandma,

me and my brother Mike with the Commanding Officer the day we went to the

base for his retirement. My Mom seems to have lost her copy of the photo. I know my

Grandma had one on the wall for a long time as I was growing up.

Granddad took on raising Grandma's 3 children as his own and raised me and my

brother as his own as well. He was one of the best Granddad's you could ask for.
